My study of Denmark and their culture has begun!
Lesson 1: Danish Taxis are pretty snazzy.
Walking out of the airport to the place where the taxis wait, there were Audis and BMWs. We rode a Mercedes. Its funny how my dream car is used as a taxi here...lol.
Lesson 2: There are about 7,000 Filipinos in Denmark, 4,000 in Copenhagen.
When we arrived at the apartment, we dropped off our luggage, had a snack and headed straight to a Filipino community event. Yesterday marked the 112th Anniversary of Philippine Independence so of course, the Filipinos had to get together. Even if I come half way around the world, I still find myself in the midst of a load of Filipinos.
Lesson 3: Everyone's treated the same, no matter what the occupation.
My aunty was explaining to me that whether you're a doctor or a trash collector, there's no difference in the way you are treated. No one says "ma'am" or "sir." The only person who has a title is the queen, who they call "Majesty." Below is a picture of us at the palace. There's actually four buildings. I shall return and make use of the panoramic feature on my camera, if I figure out how to do it -_-...
Pagkatapos ng lahat (After everything), we went home and I was seriously wanting to KO. Of course we had to eat first, because we really didn't eat enough at the Filipino party (sarcasm intended). I had my first danish meal!
Lesson 4: Bread and potatoes are their choice of starch.
My worst nightmare has come true..NO RICE! kidding :D I thoroughly enjoyed the potatoes with danish meatballs and gravy. They also drink plenty of cola, which I of course love water and fruit punch, but it's fine.
After dinner, I was finally able to sleep! Slept at 9pm and woke up at 9am :D Plenty of sleep made me a happy person, ready to take on another day. Day 2 deserves a whole other blog post, so until then, good day ;D
you're so funny!! you can't escape the filipinos.... you just can't :D
